The Evolving CISO & Top Cyber Trends Come Together At The Exchange
Add bookmarkFolks who represent the enterprise’s first line of defense will soon be descending upon the Pullman Hotel in Redwood City, Calif. These chief information security officers (CISO) will be taking part in a flagship event filled with informative panels and speaker sessions.
IQPC’s CISO Exchange, taking place from March 11-13, brings together the most innovative and insightful technology leaders across industries. They’ll be part of in-depth discussions and exchanges on ways to flesh out and combat the emerging threat landscape – as it affects digital business in a digital economy.
The invitation-only event will feature senior executives from leading global companies – which allows for unsurpassed formal and informal networking opportunities.
The March Exchange also boasts the following perks: It allows attending security practitioners to learn from those around them, identify emerging trends and technologies and build business relationships with IT executives.
Unique features include “Brain Weave” discussions (which are intimate sessions that encourage brainstorming), strategic conference settings, a customized itinerary and one-on-one business meetings.
The Exchange will feature speakers such as Sarah Engstrom, Chief Information Security Officer and IT Director of Productivity at CHS, Daniel Sutherland, Associate General Counsel, Department of Homeland Security, Michael Coates, CISO, Twitter – and many others!
Let’s Begin
Immersive events include a Day 1 Keynote Session on empowering employees to combat cyber-crime. The session will provide practical advice to help the enterprise leverage effective security awareness and behavior management practices to strengthen the human element of security.
Additional Day 1 highlights include a session entitled “Say Goodbye to Vulnerability Backlogs: Using RASP to Reclaim Control and Reduce Risk,” from Prevoty Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer (CTO), Kunal Anand. The RASP discussion will also feature a demonstration on live production attacks and real-time security event logs and reports.
The opening day will also feature a Brain Weave session on incident response, a master class on security awareness and a number of topical “Ignite Sessions.”
Day 2
The beneficial sessions continue into Day 2, which will be kicked off with a Breakfast Briefing on collaborative privacy from Jacki Monson, Vice President, Chief Privacy and Information Security Officer, Sutter Health.
Midmorning Brain Weave and master class sessions will help attendees guard against DDoS attacks and grasp the evolving threat landscape.
A Case Study from Ian Polhemus, Detective, K-9 Handler, City of Seattle, will move things along as the handler introduces attendees to new concepts in K-9 training with technology and cyber-crime components.
Later that afternoon, David Alexander, CISO, Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, will conduct a session on empowering IT/OT security, followed by a workshop on integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into the security mix.
To Conclude
On Day 3, a midmorning panel featuring Engstrom, Brian Kreitzer, CISO, UCLA Health and Harry O’Laughlin, CISO, California Department of Insurance, will tackle the evolving nature of the CISO role.
This will be followed by a session from George Finney, Chief Security Officer, SMU, on effective habits for cyber security practitioners.
In the meantime, security professionals can visit the event’s Resource Library page for an abundance of related material.
The 2018 CISO Exchange is poised to be both collaborative and informative, as CISOs and other security professionals help one another navigate the tough terrain that is the current threat landscape. Networking events may assist security teams in addressing today’s most urgent themes, too – including the talent crisis, situational awareness and communication up the corporate ladder.
Here’s Why
Previously, Joey Johnson, CISO at Premise Health, said of the Exchange: “(It) gives us the opportunity to explore what is and isn’t working and where you do and don’t need to spend money.”

Adding another testimonial, Molson Coors Brewing Company’s CISO, Christine Vanderpool, said: “The topics were relevant. Additionally, the vendors were relevant to what I’m working on over the next one to three years.”
Bob Kalka, the Vice President of IBM Security called the Exchange a “well-curated and exclusive group of CISOs across Fortune 1000 and Global 2000 companies.”
