Incident of the Week

Incident of the Week 4/10/2020

It is more important now than ever before that healthcare organizations ensure their data is secure from potential cyber attacks.

Over the past few weeks we have already seen cyber criminals taking advantage of the current pandemic by embedding trojans or worms in documents posing as information on COVID-19, or by taking advantage of organizations as they transition their workers into work from home programs. There was even an attempted hacking attack on the World Health Organization!

Healthcare Organizations have the responsibility of ensuring their patients data is safe from potential cyber attacks during this pandemic. To help these organizations during this time H-ISAC has partnered with RiskRecon, a Mastercard Company, to provide all healthcare organizations with free cybersecurity rating assessments.

Incident of the Week 1/31/2020

Incident of the Week 1/17/2020

In this weeks edition of Incident of the Week we cover a Florida Clinic's breach and recent ransom demands, the increase in domain-impersonation phishing attacks, Microsoft ending coverage on Windows 7 and Mayo Clinics partnership with nference.

Incident of the Week 1/10/2020

December 31st, 2019 marked the end of the decade. As much as we wish it were true, the end of the decade did not bring the end of cyber attacks.

As we go forward into 2020 healthcare is seeing a shift away from ransomware attacks as the #1 attack on the healthcare industry, health data breach lawsuits are becoming more common, rising tensions with Iran poses a threat on the cyber security of hospitals and health systems and digital imaging servers are still vulnerable to cyber attacks
